Hungry For Change

2009 July 14

Hey Guys! I just got in from seeing Food, Inc. with my friend Dara. We also ate at a fun Mexican restaurant near my parent’s house. I’m going to split this into two posts because it’s been such a long day and it’s far too much for one post.

Let me start off by saying that this movie was incredible and if you haven’t already seen it, get to a theater or at least read the book.  I love documentaries like this. They make me want to go out and change the world! I already knew a lot of the things covered in the film but it was still very interesting and informative.  Every time I see a movie about the food industry, it makes me want to become a vegetarian! I’m definitely going to reduce my meat intake and make sure it’s all organic and grass fed when I do eat it. I’m also definitely buying a good amount of my produce from Farmers’ Markets from now on!   Get out and see the the movie! You’ll love it for sure!

On to breakfast!

This was a Whole Wheat English Muffin with Organic PB & Blueberry Fruit Spread + a banana and blueberry salad!

I want to thank those of you who offered your wonderful advice on my previous post about my dehydration. I think I’m going to credit my problem to feeling a bit under the weather for the past couple days and not getting enough sleep. I think I’m getting sick. I felt horrible when I got to work this morning and had a cup of green tea and a hard boiled egg at around 10:00 to keep me going.

This remedy seemed to do the trick and gave me a bit more energy till lunch time when I happily polished off the rest of my Annie’s Mac & Cheese + Chicken and Greens from last night

I ventured out, yet again, to Starbucks for a Grande Sugar Free Vanilla Iced Coffee with Skim Milk

I need to kick that habit!

I enjoyed a container of cherries, blueberries, and pineapple at around 4:00 to hold me over until dinner

After work, I headed to Casa Del Sol to meet Dara for dinner. Check out my next post for a full recap. I was a bit early so I wandered around a natural food store and picked up these amazing items

I saw the Honest Foods Bar in one of Meghann’s posts and had to try one! It looked so good! I’m looking forward to snacking on it tomorrow or the next day!

I also picked up a bottle of Honest Tea (not pictured) and some Dark Chocolate for the movie

I had 4 small blocks of this chocolate during the movie and it was amazing. I love bitter dark chocolate!

Have you seen Food, Inc? What did you think? If you haven’t, do you want to?

Check out my next post for a recap of my dinner with Dara!
